Thermostat Housing: Service and Repair

Thermostat Housing - 4.6L - (3V)

Removal and Installation
1. Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding.
2. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.
3. Disconnect the thermostat housing-to-coolant crossover assembly hose and position aside.
4. Disconnect the thermostat housing-to-degas bottle hose and position aside.
5. Disconnect the thermostat housing-to-oil filter adapter hose and position aside.
6. Disconnect the thermostat housing-to-radiator hose and remove the thermostat housing.

7. NOTE: Upon installation, make sure all the hoses are fully seated against the stops.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
8. Fill and bleed the cooling system.
