Door Window Glass
DOOR WINDOW GLASSRemoval
NOTE: The front window motors must be initialized whenever any of the following occurs: the motor is removed from the window regulator, a new motor is installed, a new window regulator is installed, a new window glass is installed, or when carrying out any operation in which grease or lubricants are applied to the window system. A new front window motor is in a proportional up/down mode until initialized.
1. If equipped, remove the removable top.
2. Remove the door trim panel.
3. Position the watershield aside.
4. Connect the window control switch.
5. Connect the battery.
6. Fully lower the window.
7. Remove the pin-type retainer and the interior weatherstrip.
8. Remove the beltline weatherstrip.
9. Position the window glass to access the door window regulator bolts.
10. Remove the 2 door window regulator bolts.
11. Remove the door window glass.
Installation
1. NOTE: The door window glass must be fully seated into the clamps before the bolt and sleeve assemblies are installed.
Position the door window glass into the door window regulator clamps.
- Install the 2 bolt and sleeve assemblies into the window regulator clamps but do not tighten them.
2. NOTE: The No. 4 convertible top weatherstrip screw cannot be accessed when the convertible top is in the fully closed position.
Remove the screw and the No. 4 convertible top weatherstrip.
3. NOTE: The door and the convertible top must be closed to carry out this step.
Raise the door window glass to the full up position.
4. Install a 13 mm (0.51 in) wedge between the top of the glass and the convertible top No. 4 frame.
5. Tighten the door window regulator bolts.
- Tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
6. Remove the wedge.
7. Fully lower the window.
8. Install the interior weatherstrip and the pin-type retainer.
9. Install the beltline weatherstrip.
10. NOTE: The No. 4 convertible top weatherstrip cannot be installed when the convertible top is in the fully closed position.
Install the No. 4 convertible top weatherstrip and the screw.
11. NOTE: The convertible top must be fully closed to check for correct window glass operation.
Operate the door window glass and check for binding and correct alignment.
12. Disconnect the battery.
13. Disconnect the window control switch.
14. Install the watershield.
15. Install the door trim panel.
16. If equipped, install the removable top.
