Normal Operation
The safety belt switch is hardwired directly to the instrument cluster through circuit 8-GE52 (WH/BK). When the safety belt is not fastened, the safety belt switch closes to ground through circuit 31-GE52 (BK/RD) and provides a ground to the instrument cluster through circuit 8-GE52 (WH/BK). When the safety belt is fastened, the safety belt switch opens and removes the ground to the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster, upon receipt of the safety belt ground, turns on the safety belt warning indicator.

Possible Causes
- circuit 8-GE52 (WH/BK) open or short to ground
- circuit 31-GE52 (BK/RD) open
- safety belt buckle
- instrument cluster
