Convertible Top Assembly

CONVERTIBLE TOP ASSEMBLY

Removal and Installation

1. CAUTION: To prevent any scratches to the vehicle, cover the surfaces with a protective material.

With the convertible top closed and unlatched, detach the top well sling interior trim cover.







2. Disconnect the rear window defrost grid electrical connector locator from the body.

3. CAUTION: Do not attempt to disconnect the rear window defrost grid connector from the rear window glass.

Disconnect the rear window grid wire electrical connectors and route them through the well sling interior trim cover.

4. Remove the rear window defrost grid ground bolt.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).

5. Remove the 15 convertible top tacking strip nuts.
- To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).







6. Remove the 2 front headliner screws from the convertible top assembly.







7. Remove the side tacking strip trim on both sides.







8. Position the rear of the convertible top upwards for access.
9. Remove the 2 nuts (1 on each side) and the lift cylinder brackets.
- To install, tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb-in).

10. NOTE: The convertible top must be in the up position to remove the lift cylinder bolts.

Remove the 2 bolts (1 on each side) and position the lift cylinders aside.
- To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-in).

11. Remove the front door opening water seals.







12. Remove the removable hard top locator bracket covers.
13. Remove the 8 bolts (4 on each side) and the removable hard top locator brackets.
- To install, tighten to 62 Nm (46 lb-ft).







14. Disconnect the RH removable hard top locator bracket electrical connector.

15. NOTE: Do not remove the lower bolts completely.

Loosen the 2 lower convertible top bolts (1 on each side).
- To install, tighten to 62 Nm (46 lb-ft).

16. Remove the 4 upper convertible top bolts (2 on each side).
- To install, tighten to 62 Nm (46 lb-ft).

17. NOTE: This step requires an assistant.

Remove the convertible top assembly.

18. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
