Removal and Installation

CAUTION: Suspension fasteners are critical parts because they affect the performance of vital components and systems and their failure can result in major repair expense. A new part with the same part number must be installed if installation is necessary. Do not use a new part of lesser quality or substitute design. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of these parts.

NOTE: New control arm cam bolts and nuts must be installed whenever they are removed from the control arms.

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Using the special tool, support the engine.
3. Remove the front tire and wheel assemblies.
4. Remove the front valance panels.
5. Remove the 10 front cross brace bolts and the front cross brace.
- To install, tighten to 63 Nm (46 lb-ft).

6. NOTE: When installing, use new steering gear nuts and bolts.

Remove the 3 nuts and bolts and position the steering gear aside.
- To install, tighten to 103 Nm (76 lb-ft).

7. NOTE:
- When installing, loosely install the bolts. With the vehicle at curb height, tighten the bolts to the specification.
- When installing, use new control arm cam bolts and nuts.

Remove the 2 control arm cam bolts and nuts (1 cam bolt and nut per side).
- To install, tighten to 175 Nm (129 lb-ft).

8. Remove the 2 engine isolator mount nuts.
- To install, tighten to 63 Nm (46 lb-ft).

9. NOTE: When installing, use new engine crossmember bolts.

Remove the 4 engine crossmember bolts (2 per side) and remove the engine crossmember.
- To install, tighten to 103 Nm (76 lb-ft).

10. NOTE: A front wheel alignment is required when the crossmember(s) or any of the control arm cam bolts and nuts are removed.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
