Principles of Operation
PRINCIPLES OF OPERATIONThe anti-theft perimeter protection feature is controlled by the front electronic module (FEM), the rear electronic module (REM), and the remote keyless entry (RKE) module. The alarm can be armed using the LOCK button on the RKE transmitter to communicate with the RKE module, which sends a message through the standard corporate protocol (SCP) communications network to the FEM; or by using the driver or passenger door lock switch if the corresponding door is open when LOCK is actuated. The FEM and REM then monitor all features, which activate the alarm in the event of an unauthorized entry.
The perimeter alarm can only be disarmed using the RKE transmitter or the driver door lock cylinder switch, or by cycling the ignition cylinder to RUN using a valid programmed key.
If any of the above features receives any activation once the alarm has been armed, the alarm activates the visual and audible alerts.
