Keyless Entry Module: Service and Repair
REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) MODULERemoval and Installation
1. Remove the hardtop if installed and lower the convertible top.
2. NOTE: The pin-type retainers are overlapped by the convertible top well cover brace and the convertible top well cover.
Detach the 7 convertible top well cover pin-type retainers.
- To install, use new pin-type retainers.
3. Gently pull the two corners of the protective cover away from the top brace until the 3 pin-type retainers on each side are disengaged and position the cover aside.
4. Raise the convertible top.
5. CAUTION:
- Prior to the removal of the RKE module, it is necessary to upload module configuration information to the appropriate diagnostic equipment. This information needs to be downloaded into the new module once installed.
- Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.
Disconnect the battery ground cable.
6. Position the water shield aside.
7. Remove the 3 RKE module screws.
- To install, tighten to 4 Nm (35 lb-in).
8. Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the RKE module.
9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Once the RKE module is installed, it is necessary to download the module configuration information from the diagnostic tool into the new module. Refer to Information Bus (Module Communications Network).
