HANDLES, LOCKS, LATCHES AND MECHANISMS

Lock Cylinders
Individual lock cylinders are repaired by discarding the inoperative lock cylinder and building a new lock cylinder using the appropriate lock repair package. The lock repair package includes a detailed instruction sheet to build the new lock cylinder to the current key code of the vehicle.

Latch System
The door latch system consists of:
- front door interior handle
- front door interior handle actuating cable
- front door latch
- manual lock rod
- exterior door handle
- exterior door handle actuating rod
- door latch striker plate
- door lock cylinder
- door lock cylinder actuating rod
- door lock control switch
- door lock actuator
- luggage compartment lid latch with mechanical interior release handle and cable
- luggage compartment lid lock cylinder

Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System
The electronic door lock system has 3 main components:
- smart junction box (SJB)
- RKE transmitter
- driver door set/reset switch







The RKE transmitter initiates the following electronic system functions:
- unlocks the driver door
- unlocks all doors
- locks all doors and flashes the turn signal lamps if all doors (hood and luggage compartment if equipped with alarm) are closed
- activates/deactivates the panic alarm
- commands the interior lamps on when unlocking and off when locking
- sounds the horn once when LOCK is pressed twice within 3 seconds, and the doors (hood and luggage compartment if equipped with alarm) are closed
- sounds the horn twice when LOCK is pressed within 3 seconds of any door (hood and luggage compartment if equipped with alarm) ajar
- arms/disarms the alarm system (if equipped)
- globally opens the windows (if equipped)

The RKE transmitter has a minimum operating range of 10 m (33 ft).

Central Locking From The Driver Door Key Cylinder
On vehicles equipped with a perimeter alarm, the driver door key cylinder can be used to carry out central lock and unlock functions.

Turning the key once to the unlock position unlocks the driver door. Turning the key twice to the unlock position within 3 seconds unlocks all the doors.

Turning the key to the lock position locks all the doors. If the doors, hood and luggage compartment are closed the SJB commands 1 flash of the turn signal lamps. If any door, hood or luggage compartment is open the flash of the turn signal lamps does not occur until all the doors, hood and luggage compartment are closed.
