Wheels And Tires

Special Tool(s)

Inspection and Verification
1. Inspect for signs of uneven tire wear which may indicate a damaged steering component, a need to balance and/or rotate tires, or wheel alignment.
2. Check tires for:
- Cuts.
- Stone bruises.

Use of any other tire size or type may seriously affect:
- Ride.
- Handling.
- Speedometer/odometer calibration.
- Vehicle ground clearance.
- Tire clearance between the body and chassis.
- Wheel bearing life.
- Brake cooling.

Wheels need to be replaced when:
- Bent.
- Dented.
- Cracked.
- Heavily rusted.
- Leaking.
- They have elongated wheel hub bolt holes.
- They have excessive lateral or radial runout.

The spare tire is mounted in the luggage compartment under the mat.

The valve stem should be on the top side of the tire to reduce the possibility of accidental valve stem air leakage. To equalize tire wear, the tires should be rotated at recommended intervals.
- Abrasions.
- Blisters.
- Embedded objects.
3. More frequent inspections are recommended when rapid or extreme temperature changes occur or where road surfaces are rough or occasionally littered with debris.
4. Tread wear indicators are molded across the bottom of the tread grooves. Replace the tires when the tread wear indicators become visible.
