Fuel Rail: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

WARNING:
^ DO NOT SMOKE OR CARRY LIGHTED TOBACCO OR AN OPEN FLAME OF ANY TYPE WHEN WORKING ON OR NEAR ANY FUEL RELATED COMPONENT. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE MIXTURES ARE ALWAYS PRESENT AND MAY BE IGNITED, RESULTING IN POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
^ FUEL IN THE FUEL SYSTEM REMAINS UNDER HIGH PRESSURE EVEN WHEN ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING.
^ BEFORE REPAIRING OR DISCONNECTING ANY OF THE FUEL LINES OR FUEL SYSTEM COMPONENTS, THE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE MUST BE RELIEVED.


NOTE: Make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF position.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect the fuel hose spring lock coupling.
3. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe.
4. Remove the throttle body.







5. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors.







6. Disconnect the vacuum hose and the fuel pressure sensor electrical connector.







7. Remove the screws and position the fuel charging wiring out of the way.







8. Remove the fuel injection supply manifold.
^ Remove the bolts.
^ Remove the fuel injection supply manifold

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

CAUTION: When installing fuel injector supply manifold, lubricate the injector 0-rings lightly with clean engine oil.
