Timing Sprockets


Timing Drive Components-Timing Sprockets

Removal
1. Remove the timing belt.





2. WARNING: The camshaft alignment tool is not recommended to hold the camshafts in place when removing or tightening the bolts. Damage to camshaft ears may result.

NOTE: Use open-end wrench to keep the camshaft from rotating.

Remove the bolt and the intake camshaft timing sprocket.

3. NOTE: Use an open-end wrench to keep the camshaft from rotating.

Remove the exhaust camshaft sprocket.
^ Remove VCT oil plug.
^ Remove the bolt.
^ Remove the sprocket.

Installation











1. CAUTION: The Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) sprocket has a rectangular tab on the backside of the sprocket which must align with the hole on the front face of the thrust bushing. Failure to align may result in poor engine performance.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
