Gearshift Cables

Removal
1. Raise and support the vehicle.





2. Detach the gearshift cables from the transaxle.
1. Detach the gearshift cable (colored white) and the selector cable (colored black) from the shift lever and the selector lever.
2. Turn the abutment collar clockwise and detach the cables from the bracket.





3. Shift the gearshift mechanism to the neutral position.





4. Detach the exhaust flexible pipe from the tailpipe and muffler assembly.
- Discard the nuts and gasket.





5. Detach the exhaust front hanger insulators from the brackets.





6. Detach the exhaust front-muffler hanger insulator from the bracket.
- Support the exhaust system.





7. Remove the exhaust front heat shield.
- Detach the gearshift cable and selector cable from the floor pan.
8. Lower the vehicle.





9. Remove the gearshift lever knob and boot.
10. Remove the floor console.





11. Remove the center armrest brace.





12. Remove the rear footwell heating duct.





13. Remove the center console trim panel.





14. Remove the right-hand instrument panel lower trim panel.
15. Remove the lower heater case duct.





16. Detach the gearshift cables from the gearshift linkage.
- Turn the abutment collar clockwise and detach the cables from the bracket.





17. Detach the gearshift cable from the gearshift lever.





18. Detach the selector cable from the selector lever.





19. Fold back the floor covering and sound deadening material (heater core shown removed for clarity).





20. Detach the gearshift cable and the selector cable bushing from the floor panel and pull the cables through to the vehicle interior (heater core shown removed for clarity).

Installation
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
2. Adjust the gearshift cables.
