Fuel Pump: Service and Repair

Wrench, Fuel Tank Sender Unit:

SPECIAL TOOL(S)

REMOVAL
1. Remove the fuel tank.







2. Disconnect the fuel supply line from the fuel pump module.
1. Pull the red fuel line clip fully towards the fuel pump module.
2. While holding the red fuel line clip against the fuel pump module, firmly pull the fuel supply line to disconnect it from the fuel pump module.







3. Using the special tool, remove the locking ring.







4. Remove the fuel pump module.
1. Rotate the module counterclockwise.
2. Lift the module from the fuel tank.

CAUTION: Make sure that the float or arm are not damaged while removing the fuel pump module.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: Make sure that the red fuel line clip is not damaged and that it clicks into place when installing the fuel line. To make sure that the fuel line is fully seated, pull on the line. The red fuel line clip should move slightly away from the module and the fuel line should not be able to be removed.

NOTE: Install a new fuel pump module seal and make sure that it is seated correctly on the fuel tank prior to tightening the locking ring.







1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
