FORD:
2001-2002 FOCUS

ISSUE

There is a new design fuel delivery module (FDM) available for service on 2000-2002 Focus vehicle built before 12/13/2001 at Wayne Assembly Plant, and built before 2/13/2002 at Hermosillo Assembly Plant.

ACTION

If FDM replacement becomes necessary, replace with the new redesigned module. A redesigned fuel filter inlet tube (included with FDM) must also be installed, due to the FDM design changes. The new module is top-mounted in the tank and requires the removal of the retaining ring that attached the original FDM to the floor of the tank. A special cut-off tool (310-133), already provided to all dealerships, has been designed to cut the tabs of the retaining ring without damaging the fuel tank vapor barrier (inside surface of the tank). Refer to (Figures 1-6) for Service Procedure.
