Shifter A/T: Service and Repair
Selector Lever -GearshiftRemoval
1. Remove the transmission control selector dial bezel.
2. Disconnect the brake shift interlock actuator electrical connector.
3. Disconnect the park range switch electrical connector.
4. Remove the screws and the brake shift interlock actuator.
5. Remove the gearshift lever cable nut.
6. CAUTION: Be careful not to kink the shift cable and bracket when repositioning it aside to avoid cable binding.
Remove the cable floorpan bracket bolts.
7. CAUTION: Do not loosen the ignition/shifter interlock cable locknut from the factory setting for proper shift-lock operation to avoid misadjustment.
CAUTION: Be careful not to kink the ignition/shifter interlock cable when repositioning it aside.
Hold the (A) ignition/shifter interlock cable locknut to prevent it from turning while loosening the (B) ignition/shifter interlock cable locknut and position the cable aside.
8. Remove the nuts and remove the gearshift lever.
Installation
1. NOTE: Adjust the shift cable and bracket.
NOTE: Adjust the transmission control selector dial bezel.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Removal
1. Remove the front screw.
Position the gearshift lever to gain access.
2. Remove the RH side screw and the gearshift knob.
Installation
1. NOTE: Use Threadlock and Sealer EOAZ-19554-AA meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G315-A5 (Type II) when installing the gearshift lever knob screws.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
