Special Tools
REMOVAL
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Disconnect the fuel tube.
3. Drain the cooling system.
4. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
5. Remove the air clean outlet tube.
6. Remove the oil lever indicator and tube.
7. Disconnect the heater coolant hoses from the heater core.
8. Remove the accessory drive belt.
9. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump.
10. Disconnect the heater hose from the coolant pipe.
11. Remove the bolts and the coolant pipe.
12. Remove the generator.
13. Using the special tool, remove the bolts and coolant pump pulley.
14. Remove the valve tappets.
NOTE: Do not install the nut.
15. Lower the engine and install the through bolt.
16. Remove the three bar.
17. Disconnect the vacuum hoses.
18. Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor.
19. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
20. Disconnect the ignition coil.
21. Remove the two bolts and the nut.
- Position aside the thermostat housing.
22. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.
23. Remove the power steering pressure hose bracket bolts.
24. Remove the engine block ground bracket.
1. Remove the bolts.
2. Remove the engine block ground bracket.
25. Remove the four bolts and position aside the power steering pump.
- Discard the power steering heat shield.
26. Remove the power steering pump bracket.
27. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube from the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve.
28. Disconnect the main engine electrical connectors.
29. Remove the upper generator bracket upper bolt.
30. Remove the bolts and the cylinder head.
- Discard the gasket.
