Dashboard / Instrument Panel: Service and Repair
REMOVALWARNING:
- TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT, THE AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY MUST BE DEPLETED. WALT AT LEAST ONE MINUTE AFTER DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE(S) BEFORE COMMENCING ANY REPAIR OR ADJUSTMENT TO THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS), OR ANY COMPONENT(S) ADJACENT TO THE SRS SENSORS. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS MAY RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.
- ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN WORKING ON AN AIR BAG EQUIPPED VEHICLE AND WHEN HANDLING AN AIR BAG MODULE. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS INSTRUCTION MAY RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.
- TO MINIMIZE THE POSSIBILITY OF PREMATURE DEPLOYMENT, DO NOT USE RADIO KEY CODE SAVERS WHEN WORKING ON THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS INSTRUCTION MAY RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.
1. Remove the steering column.
2. Remove the instrument cluster. Service and Repair
3. Remove the floor console.
4. Remove the audio unit.
5. Remove the glove compartment.
6. Detach the climate control and audio unit trim panel.
1. Remove the screws.
2. Detach the clips.
7. Remove the climate control and audio unit trim panel.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the climate control cables.
8. Remove the heater core housing assembly panel.
- Remove the screws (left-hand side shown, righthand side similar).
9. Remove the passenger air bag module.
10. Remove the instrument panel upper retaining screws.
11. Remove the A-pillar trim panels.
12. Remove the instrument panel side bolts (left hand side shown, right hand side similar).
13. Detach the instrument panel.
- Remove the bolts.
- Detach the defroster tubes.
- Detach the cable clips.
14. Remove the instrument panel.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
