Clutch Disc Check

1. CAUTION: Do not use paraffin based cleaning agents and solvents.





Clean the clutch pressure plate.
^ Check the clutch pressure plate for:
^ Scorch marks
^ Scoring
^ Flatness
^ Pressure points
^ If necessary, renew clutch pressure plate.

2. CAUTION: Do not use paraffin based cleaning agents and solvents.





Clean the clutch friction disc.
^ Check friction disc for:
^ Oil fouling
^ Scorch marks
^ Thickness
^ Check springs
^ If necessary, renew clutch friction disc.





3. Check the flywheel for:
^ Scorch marks
^ Scoring
^ Cracks
^ If necessary, renew flywheel.





4. Check the clutch master cylinder:
^ For leaks
^ Retaining clip

5. Check the clutch slave cylinder with release bearing:
^ For leaks
^ Bellows





6. Check driveshaft:
^ Splines
^ For scoring
^ For damage





Vehicles with iB5 manual transmission

7. Check the clutch slave cylinder with release bearing for:
^ Leaks
^ Severe wear of the release bearing inner ring





8. Check the transmission input shaft:
^ Splines
^ For scoring
^ For damage
