Relay

Component testing applies to the following relays:
^ Relay - dipped beam
^ Relay - main beam
^ Daytime running lights relay
^ Stoplamp relay







1. Check break contact.
Measure the resistance between pin 3 and pin 4.
^ Is the resistance less than 1 ohm?
^ If yes, GO to step 2.
^ If no, INSTALL a new the relay.







2. Check close contact.
^ Measure the resistance between pin 3 and pin 5.
^ Is the resistance greater than 10 kohms?
^ If yes, GO to step 3.
^ If no, INSTALL a new relay.







3. Check relay contact in activated condition.
^ Connect positive terminal of power supply with pin 1.
^ Connect negative terminal of power supply with pin 2.
^ Measure the resistance between pin 3 and pin 5.
^ Does the relay switch audibly and is the resistance less than 1 ohm?
^ If yes, the relay is OK.
^ If no, INSTALL a new relay.
