Alternator: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories.
3. Remove the coolant tank reservoir. Refer to Cooling System.







4. Disconnect the two electrical connectors.







5. Remove the generator bolts and position the Generator (GEN) aside.







6. Remove the generator.
1 Remove the battery power nut and washer.
2 Disconnect the battery positive cable and remove the generator.

INSTALLATION












1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 mi) or more to relearn the strategy.
