Water Pump: Service and Repair
Removal1. Drain the engine coolant below the water pump.
2. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.
3. Remove the Power Steering (PS) pump pulley.
4. Remove the bolts and the water pump pulley.
^ Remove the bolts.
5. Remove the PS bracket.
^ Remove the bolts.
^ Remove the nuts.
6. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the water pump.
7. Remove the camshaft position sensor.
8. Position aside the water heater outlet tube assembly.
^ Remove the bolt.
9. Remove the water pump.
^ Remove the stud.
^ Remove the four bolts.
^ Remove the four nuts.
10. Clean and inspect the gasket sealing surfaces.
Installation
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Install a new gasket.
Tighten the water pump stud, bolts and nuts in the sequence shown.
2. Fill the cooling system.
