Compressor HVAC: Service and Repair
REMOVALCAUTION: To prevent refrigerant system contamination, if you are installing a new A/C compressor because the compressor has failed internally, you must carry out the following procedures:
- If A/C flusher is available, carry out the Flushing. Air Conditioning System Flushing
- If A/C flusher is not available, carry out the Refrigerant System Filtering After A/C Component Replacement. Refrigerant System Filtering After A/C Component Replacement
- Install a new A/C evaporator core orifice. Expansion Block/Orifice Tube
1. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to Battery.
2. Perform the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure.
3. Remove the drive belt. For additional information, refer to Belts and accessories.
4. Raise the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service.
5. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
6. Remove the manifold and tube assembly.
1. Remove the bolt.
2. Remove the manifold and tube assembly.
7. Remove the compressor.
1. Remove the bolts.
2. Remove the compressor.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Service the new compressor with the correct amount of PAG Compressor Oil YN-12c, F7AZ-19589-DA or equivalent meeting ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
- Lubricate the O-ring seal with PAG Compressor Oil, YN-12c, F7AZ-19589-DA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
