Parameter Identification (PIDs)
To retrieve PIDs, follow these steps:1. Connect the scan tool to the DLC.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
3. Select the MODEL YEAR and VEHICLE.
4. Select DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK.
5. Select RCM (restraints control module).
6. Select PID/DATA MONITOR AND RECORD.
7. Record all PIDs that are to be retrieved, and press START. PIDs are updated continuously on the display.
RCM Parameter Identification (PID) Table:
PID/Data Monitor and Record
The PID/Data Monitor and Record option allows the scan tool operator to read the state of several Parameter Identifications (PIDs) to aid in diagnosing the system. PIDs are real time measurements of parameters such as voltages, resistances, etc., calculated by the RCM and sent to the scan tool for display. Many of the PIDs supported by the RCM are calculated periodically and are, therefore, not true real time readings. The RCM Parameter Identification (PID) Table is a table of supported PIDs expected range and units of measurement.
