Dashboard / Instrument Panel: Service and Repair




Instrument Panel
General Equipment: One M6 x 100 mm bolt

Removal

WARNING: Always wear safety glasses when working on an air bag equipped vehicle and when handling an air bag module. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.


1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.






2. Detach the instrument panel lower panel.
1. Remove the screws.
2. Detach the clip.






3. Remove the instrument panel lower panel.
- Detach the data link electrical connector.






4. Remove the steering column upper shroud.
- Detach the clips using a thin bladed screwdriver (one each side).






5. Detach the audio unit control switch (if equipped).
1. Detach the clip using a thin bladed screwdriver.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector.






6. Remove the steering column lower shroud.
1. Release the steering column locking lever.
2. Remove the screws.






7. Detach and lower the steering column.
- Remove and discard the nyloc nuts.
- Remove the Torx bolt.
8. Remove the instrument cluster. Service and Repair
9. Remove the audio unit. Service and Repair






10. Remove the glove compartment.
11. Remove the passenger air bag module. Service and Repair






12. Detach the climate control and audio unit trim panel.
1. Remove the screws.
2. Detach the clips.






13. Remove the climate control and audio unit trim panel.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the climate control cables.
14. Remove the ashtray.






15. Remove the heater core housing assembly panel.
- Remove the screws (left-hand side shown, right-hand similar).






16. Detach the cellular phone handset holder (for Vehicles with cellular phones).






17. Detach the front of the center console.
- Remove the screws (one each side).






18. Remove the ashtray from the rear of the center console.






19. Detach the rear of the center console.
20. Move the center console rearwards.






21. Remove the instrument panel upper retaining clips.
1. Install the M6 x 100 mm bolt.
2. Using a suitable tool, remove the retaining clips.






22. Remove the instrument panel side trim panels.






23. Remove the instrument panel side bolts (left-hand side shown, right-hand side similar).






24. Detach the instrument panel.
- Remove the bolts.
- Detach the defroster tubes.
- Detach the cable clips.






25. Remove the instrument panel.

Installation






1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
