Canister Purge Control Valve: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the battery.

WARNING
^ THE EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM CONTAINS FUEL VAPOR AND CONDENSED FUEL VAPOR. ALTHOUGH NOT IN LARGE QUANTITIES, IT STILL PRESENTS THE DANGER OF EXPLOSION OR FIRE. DISCONNECT THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE FROM THE BATTERY TO MINIMIZE THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ELECTRICAL SPARK OCCURRING, POSSIBLY CAUSING A FIRE OR EXPLOSION IF FUEL VAPOR OR FUEL LIQUID IS PRESENT IN THE AREA. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS MAY RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.
^ DO NOT SMOKE OR CARRY LIGHTED TOBACCO OR OPEN FLAME OF ANY TYPE WHEN WORKING ON OR AROUND ANY FUEL-RELATED COMPONENT. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE MIXTURES ARE ALWAYS PRESENT AND MAY BE IGNITED. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS MAY RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.


2. Raise the vehicle.
3. Remove the RH front wheel.







4. Remove the right front splash shield.
1 Remove the three screws.
2 Remove the five pin-type retainers.







5. Disconnect the connector.







6. Disconnect the main emission vacuum control connector.







7. Disconnect the EVAP canister purge outlet tube.







8. Disconnect the evaporative emission return tube.







9. Remove the nuts and the evaporative emission canister purge valve.

INSTALLATION







1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.

2. Leak test the system. EVAP System Leak Test
3. Carry out the Evaporative Emission Running Loss Monitor Repair Verification Drive Cycle.
