Removal

Transmission
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the gearshift lever.
3. Raise and support the vehicle on a hoist.





4. Remove the rear driveshaft.
5. Remove the dual converter H-pipe.





6. Disconnect the backup lamp switch electrical connector.
7. Remove the starter motor.





8. Disconnect the OSS connector. Disconnect the wiring harness from the transmission.





9. Remove the clutch release lever cover.





10. CAUTION: To prevent damage, do not depress the clutch pedal while the transmission is removed.

Disengage the clutch release cable from the clutch release fork.





11. Remove the clutch cable retainer and remove the clutch cable from the transmission.
12. If transmission disassembly is required, drain the transmission fluid.





13. Position a transmission jack and support the transmission.





14. Remove the bolts.





15. Remove the transmission crossmember.





16. Remove the bolts.





17. Lower the transmission and remove the five bolts.
