36. Remove the paper clips used to retain the ratchet assemblies.





37. Remove the special tool.





38. Position the crankshaft sensor ring on the crankshaft.






39. NOTE: The front cover must be installed within four minutes of applying sealer.

Apply silicone sealant in the locations shown.
- Use Silicone Gasket and Sealant F7AZ-19554-EA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M2G323-A4.

40. Install the engine front cover.





41. Install the belt idler.





42. Lubricate the engine front cover and the front oil seal inner lip.
- Use Super Premium SAE SW-30 Motor Oil XO-5W30-QSP or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G.





43. Using the special tool, install the front oil seal.





44. NOTE: The crankshaft pulley must be installed within four minutes of applying the sealant.

Apply silicone to the woodruff key slot on the crankshaft pulley.
- Use Silicone Gasket and Sealant F7AZ-19554-EA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M2G323-A4.





45. Using the special tool, install the crankshaft pulley.





46. Install the washer and the bolt. Tighten the bolt in four stages.
- Stage 1: Tighten the bolt to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.).
- Stage 2: Loosen the bolt one full turn.
- Stage 3: Tighten the bolt to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
- Stage 4: Tighten the bolt an additional 90°.





47. Install the oil filter adapter.





48. NOTE: The RH side is shown, the LH side is similar.

Apply the sealer in the locations shown.
- Use Silicone Gasket and Sealant F7AZ-19554-EA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M2G323-A4.





49. NOTE: The RH valve cover is shown, the LH is similar.

- Install the valve covers.





50. Install a new O-ring.





51. Install the tube.





52. NOTE: The RH exhaust manifold is shown, the LH is similar. Tighten the bolts in sequence shown.

- Install the exhaust manifolds.





53. Install the intake manifold and gaskets. Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.





54. Install the water thermostat and O-ring.
- Install a new O-ring as necessary.





55. Install the water outlet adapter.





56. Connect the heater hose.





57. Install the generator.





58. Install the upper generator support bracket.





59. Install the ignition coils and bolts.





60. Install the fuel injection supply manifold and fuel injectors as an assembly.





61. Install the four intake manifold studs.





62. Install the bolts, tightening in the sequence shown.





63. Install the PCV valve and hose as an assembly.





64. Connect the PCV hose to the base of the throttle body.





65. Connect the EGR tube to the EGR valve.





66. Position the bracket, tighten the engine mount bolt and nut.





67. Connect the evaporative emissions return line.





68. Install the breather tube.
