EVAP System Leak Test
Special Service Tool(s)
CAUTION: The evaporative emission system must not be pressurized to more than 3.48 kPa (14 inches H2O) or damage to the evaporative emission system may occur.
1. Connect the Evaporative Emission System Leak Tester to the evaporative emission test port.
2. Connect the New Generation Star Tester and select the Output Test Mode.
NOTE: The ignition switch must be in the key ON engine OFF position.
3. Select the Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) and the fuel tank pressure volts (V) Parameter Identification (PIDS) for monitoring and selecting the ALL OFF mode.
4. Close the canister vent solenoid by pushing the START button on the scan tool.
5. Pressurize the evaporative emission system to 3.48 kPa (14 inches H2O).
6. Monitor the system for two minutes. The system fails the leak test if the pressure falls below 1.49 kPa (6 inches H2O).
7. Repair any leaks as necessary.
8. Repeat the Leak Test-Evaporative Emission System until the system remains above 1.49 kPa (6 inches H2O) after a two-minutes test period.
