Compressor HVAC: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

CAUTION: To prevent refrigerant system contamination, if you are installing a new A/C compressor because the compressor has failed internally, you must carry out these procedures:
- Install a new A/C evaporator core orifice.
- If A/C Flusher is available, carry out the Flushing general procedure.
A/C System Flushing

- If A/C flusher is not available, carry out the Refrigerant System Filtering After A/C Component Replacement general procedure.

1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Recover the refrigerant.
3. Remove the drive belt.
4. Raise the vehicle.







5. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.







6. Remove the manifold and tube assembly.

2 Remove the manifold and tube assembly.







7. Remove the compressor.
1 Remove the bolts.
2 Remove the compressor.

INSTALLATION












1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Refrigerant Oil Addition

- Service the new compressor with the correct amount of PAG Compressor Oil YN-12c, F7AZ-19589-DA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
- Lubricate the O-ring seal with PAG Compressor Oil, YN-12c, F7AZ-19589-DA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
