Removal

Special Tools:






1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Recover the A/C system.
3. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
4. Drain the engine cooling system.
5. Disconnect the fuel line.





6. Remove the upper radiator hose.





7. Disconnect the throttle cable, speed control actuator cable and throttle return spring.





8. Remove the bolts, position the cables and the bracket out of the way.





9. Disconnect the evaporative emissions return line.





10. Disconnect the 16-pin and the 42-pin connectors.





11. Separate the engine control sensor wiring in three locations and position onto the engine.





12. Disconnect the vacuum lines.





13. Disconnect the heater inlet and the heater outlet hose.





14. Remove the wiring support bracket.





15. Disconnect the connectors.





16. Raise the cover and remove the nut and cables.





17. Disconnect the low coolant sensor.





18. Disconnect the hose from the bypass tube.
19. Remove the shifter.
20. Raise the vehicle.
21. Remove the two front wheel and tire assemblies.





22. Disconnect the two front wheel speed sensor electrical connectors.
23. Remove the brake caliper assemblies and secure to the body.
24. Remove the three way catalytic converter.
25. Disconnect the A/C compressor inlet and outlet lines.





26. Position the A/C muffler aside.
27. Remove the starter.





28. Position the harness aside.





29. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor.





30. Remove the nut and the engine ground cable.





31. Disconnect the hose from the oil filter adapter.





32. Disconnect the lower hose from the radiator and remove the assembly.
33. Disconnect the clutch cable from the transmission.





34. Disconnect the high pressure power steering line.





35. Disconnect the lower power steering line from the power steering cooler.





36. Disconnect the hose from the power steering reservoir.





37. Remove the bolt and the anti-rotation clip.





38. Loosen the fitting and disconnect the high pressure line from the power steering pump.





39. Separate the steering shaft from the gear.





40. NOTE: This step is performed on both sides.

Remove the two pin-type retainers and position the splash shield aside.





41. Remove the four nuts.





42. Remove the two bolts.





43. Position the universal powertrain lift and extension.





44. NOTE: For Steps 45-47, mark the location of the bolts and the crossmember. This will aid in the alignment during installation.

Remove the four bolts.





45. Remove the bolts.





46. Remove the four bolts.
47. Remove the powertrain assembly from the vehicle.





48. Install the RH engine lifting bracket.





49. Install the LH engine lifting bracket.
50. Install the engine lifting equipment.





51. Remove the two nuts.





52. Disconnect the transmission wiring.





53. Remove the bolts; separate the transmission from the engine.
54. Raise and separate the engine from the front A frame assembly.
