Right

Removal
1. Drain the engine coolant.
2. Remove the right-hand Heated Oxygen (HO2S) Sensor.
3. Remove the camshafts.
4. Remove the twelve hydraulic lash adjusters.
5. Remove the three bar engine support.





6. Disconnect the EGR back pressure transducer hoses at the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube.





7. Disconnect the EGR back pressure transducer electrical connector.





8. Remove the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube from the exhaust manifold.





9. Remove the coolant crossover tube and position it to one side.

10. NOTE: Remove the right-hand cylinder head with the exhaust manifold and EGR backpressure transducer bracket attached.





Remove the cylinder head bolts in the indicated sequence and the right-hand cylinder head.





11. Remove the exhaust manifold in the indicated sequence.
12. Clean and inspect the cylinder head and cylinder block.

Installation

1. NOTE: The head gaskets must be installed over the cylinder head to cylinder block dowels.





Install new head gaskets.

2. CAUTION: Use care when installing the cylinder head. Damage to the cylinder block and to the cylinder head may result.

NOTE: Make sure the cylinder head is installed in its original position.





Install the right-hand cylinder head and install new cylinder head bolts and washers tighten in the indicated sequence in six stages.
- Stage 1: Tighten to 40 Nm.
- Stage 2: Tighten 90 degrees.
- Stage 3: Loosen 360 degrees in reverse sequence.
- Stage 4: Tighten to 40 Nm.
- Stage 5: Tighten 90 degrees.
- Stage 6: Tighten 90 degrees.





3. Install the exhaust manifold in the indicated sequence.





4. Lubricate new O-ring seals with coolant and install the coolant crossover tube.
- Use Premium cooling system fluid or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M97B44-A.





5. Install the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube to the exhaust manifold.





6. Connect the EGR back pressure transducer electrical connector.





7. Connect the EGR back pressure transducer hoses at the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube.
8. Install the twelve right-hand hydraulic lash adjusters.
9. Install the camshafts.
10. Install the special tool 303-290A.
11. Install the right-hand HO2S.
12. Fill engine cooling system.
