STEERING - PULL AND/OR DRIFT TO RIGHT - SVT VEHICLE ONLY

FORD:
1998-99 CONTOUR

ISSUE
A pull or drift to the right may occur on some vehicles. This may be due to unfavorable front camber/caster angle split.

ACTION
Loosen the front subframe attachment bolts, shift the entire subframe toward the passenger side and shift the passenger side of the subframe forward. Be sure left caster is less positive than right caster, and left camber is less negative than right camber. Refer to the 1998-99 Contour/Mystique Workshop Manual, Section 204-00-31, for service details.

NOTE
THIS ACTION COUNTERACTS THE EFFECT OF THE UNFAVORABLE FRONT WHEEL CAMBER/CASTER ANGLE SPLIT. IT WILL MAKE THE VEHICLE TEND TO DRIFT LEFT, BUT STRAIGHT. ROAD CROWN WILL COUNTERACT THE DRIFT TO THE LEFT.
