Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

Inspect the dual converter Y pipe, exhaust system flex tube, Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) and muffler for cracked joints, broken welds and corrosion damage that would result in a leaking exhaust system. Inspect the clamps, muffler pipe brackets, and exhaust hanger insulators for cracks, and stripped or badly corroded bolt threads. When clamps are loosened and/or removed to replace a pipe muffler, three way catalytic converter or exhaust system flex tube, replace clamp (s) if its service is limited.
