Camshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation

The Camshaft Position sensor (CMP sensor) is a single Hall effect magnetic switch activated by a single vane which is driven by the camshaft.

The camshaft position sensor provides camshaft position information which is used by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) for fuel control.
