Backup Lamp: Description and Operation

The backup lamp system consists of:
- Backup lamp bulb in the rear lamp.
- Backup lamp switch on vehicles with a manual transmission.
- Digital Transmission Range (DTR) sensor on vehicles with an automatic transmission.
- Circuit wiring and circuit protection.
- Power is supplied to either the backup lamp switch or the digital transmission range (DTR) sensor through fuse junction panel Fuse 1 (15A) and Circuit 298 (P/O).
- With the transmission in REVERSE, the switch closes and power is provided to the backup lamp bulbs through Circuit 140 (BK/PK). Ground is provided to the backup lamp bulbs through Circuit 57 (BK).
