Removal

1. Drain engine cooling system.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Disconnect underhood lamp wiring connector.
4. Mark position of hood hinge and remove hood.
5. Disconnect generator-to-voltage regulator wiring assembly.
6. Remove radiator upper sight shield.
7. Release drive belt tensioner and remove drive belt.
8. Remove air cleaner outlet tube.
9. Disconnect cooling fan motor wiring.
10. Disconnect constant control relay module at wiring connector and remove radiator coolant recovery reservoir.
11. Remove cooling fan motor, fan blade and fan shroud assembly.
12. Remove upper radiator hose.
13. On automatic transmission equipped-vehicles, disconnect transmission oil cooler inlet and outlet tubes.
14. Disconnect heater inlet and heater return tube hoses.
15. Disconnect lower radiator hose at water pump.
16. Remove radiator retaining bolts and radiator.
17. Disconnect power steering pressure hose.
18. Remove power steering pump and power steering pump bracket and move aside.
19. Disconnect Power Steering Pressure switch (PSP switch) at wiring connector.
20. Disconnect A/C clutch from fuel charging wiring.
21. Recover A/C system.
22. Disconnect A/C compressor lines. Cap or plug open lines.
23. Remove A/C compressor retaining bolts and remove A/C compressor.
24. Remove wiring shield.
25. Disconnect accelerator cable and speed control actuator cable from throttle body.
26. Remove accelerator cable bracket and move aside with cables.
27. Release fuel system pressure and disconnect fuel supply hose.
28. Disconnect fuel return hose.
29. Disconnect fuel charging wiring from engine control sensor wiring at 42-pin connector.
30. Disconnect main vacuum source hose.
31. Disconnect evaporative emission hose.
32. Remove A/C compressor mounting bracket with drive belt tensioner attached.
33. Raise vehicle on hoist.
34. Position drain pan beneath engine oil pan.
35. Drain engine oil.





36. Remove oil bypass filter
37. Move drain pan away from vehicle.
38. Disconnect heated oxygen sensors (HO2S).
39. Remove dual converter Y pipe.
40. Remove inspection plug from engine rear plate and remove torque converter bolts.
41. Remove engine-to-transmission bolts.
42. Remove transmission oil cooler line retainers from RH front engine support insulator.
43. Remove through bolts retaining front engine support insulator to front sub-frame.
44. Remove starter motor.
45. Remove ground cable and remove starter motor wire harness retainers (LH and RH sides).
46. Partially lower vehicle.
47. Position Rotunda 1-1/2 Ton Floor Jack 164-R3511 or equivalent under transmission.
48. Install Rotunda Engine Lifting Bracket Set 303-D095 (014-00792) and Rotunda Separator Bar 303-F054 (014-00793) or equivalents.
49. PositionRotundaFloorCraneO14-00071 or equivalent.
50. Remove engine assembly from vehicle.
51. Place engine on Rotunda Engine Stand 014-00232 or equivalent.
