Test Notes

NOTE: This test applies only to FEDERAL MODELS.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- EVAP Canister Purge Valve - Purge Flow (PF) sensor assembly
- Vapor Management Valve (VMV)
- Fuel vapor storage canister
- Fuel vapor hoses
- Fuel vapor control valve
- Vacuum or vapor leaks caused by loose fuel filler cap
- Fuel tank air/vapor leaks
- Harness circuits: EVAP CANISTER PURGE, PF, VMV, Vehicle Power (VPWR), and Power Ground (PWR GND)
- Powertrain control module

CAUTION: The use of a soap solution, such as SNOOP, around the fuel filler cap or the use of the hydrocarbon emission analyzer to determine an evaporative emission system leak is not recommended. The mandatory Rotunda Evaporative Emission Tester for OBD II (including the ultrasonic tester) is the only device to be used at this time for evaporative emission system leak detection.
