System Operation

Anti-Theft System Operation

The anti-theft alarm system provides vehicle protection as follows:
^ The system is controlled by an anti-theft alarm control.
^ It provides the vehicle with protection from unauthorized entry into the passenger compartment and luggage compartment.
^ When armed, unauthorized entry into the passenger compartment is detected by lamp switches (located in the passenger compartment front doors).
^ The luggage compartment is protected by a door lock cylinder switch, located on the luggage compartment door lock cylinder.

Once triggered, the system responds as follows:
^ flashes the low beam headlamps, the parking lamps, rear lamps and the alarm indicator
^ sounds the horn
^ disables the starter circuit until the system is disarmed

Components
The system is composed of the following components:
^ anti-theft alarm control
^ theft indicator (located in instrument cluster)
^ RH door lock cylinder switch, and LH door lock cylinder switch
^ luggage compartment door lock cylinder switch
^ relay mounting panel assembly

The following components already exist in the vehicle and are used in the anti-theft alarm system:
^ door lock switch
^ lamp switch
^ horn relay and bracket and horns
^ low beam headlamps
^ rear lamps and parking lamps
^ starter relay
^ remote/keyless entry module
