Heated Glass Element Switch: Description and Operation
- A heated back window switch and light is mounted on the instrument panel.- The heated back window switch and light has a push button spring-loaded to neutral position to turn the system on or off. A timer-controlled relay turns off after approximately 10 minutes of operation. If more time is needed, the heated back window switch and light can be reactivated for another 10 minutes by pushing the button.
- Pushing in the heated back window switch and light electrically closes the normally open contacts in the heated back window switch and light.
- The contacts switch a Lighting Control Module (LCM) input to ground. The LCM then switches one side of the heated back window relay to ground. The contacts provide battery positive voltage (B+) to the back window glass grids, indicator and heated outside rear view mirrors. The contact will remain closed until the LCM turns it off, the heated back window switch and light is pushed or the ignition switch is turned OFF.
- Power is supplied from the power distribution box maxi Fuse 14 (40 A).
