Valve Clearance: Adjustments
NOTE: Ford does not provide a TDC (Top Dead Center) mark or determination procedure for this engine in this vehicle.
ALLDATA users have reported success using aftermarket tools to determine TDC on this engine.
1. Allow tappet to bleed down, or use a valve tappet bleed-down wrench on rocker arm and apply pressure in a direction to collapse valve tappet.
2. Rotate crankshaft into position and check collapsed tapped gap (valve lash). Lash should be 2.25-4.79 mm (0.09-0.19 inch).
3. With No. 1 piston (6108) on the top dead center (TDC) at the end of compression stroke (Position No. 1 in the illustration), check the following valves:
Intake ... Cylinder No. 1, 3, 6
Exhaust .. Cylinder No. 1, 2, 4
4. Rotate the crankshaft one complete revolution (360°) and check the following valves:
Intake ... Cylinder No. 2, 4, 5
Exhaust .. Cylinder No. 3, 5, 6
