Removal

1. Drain engine cooling system.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301).
3. Disconnect underhood lamp wiring connector.
4. Mark position of hood hinge (16796) and remove hood (16612).
5. Disconnect generator-to-voltage regulator wiring assembly.
6. Remove radiator upper sight shield (8C291).
7. Remove accessory drive belts (8620).
8. Remove air cleaner outlet tube (9B659).
9. Disconnect cooling fan motor wiring.
10. Disconnect constant control relay module (CCRM) at wiring connector and remove radiator coolant recovery reservoir (8A080).
11. Remove cooling fan motor, fan blade (8600) and fan shroud (8146) assembly.
12. Remove upper radiator hose (8260).
13. On automatic transmission equipped-vehicles, disconnect transmission oil cooler inlet and outlet tubes.
14. Disconnect heater inlet and heater return tube hoses.
15. Disconnect lower radiator hose (8286) at water pump (8501).
16. Remove radiator retaining bolts and radiator (8005).
17. Disconnect power steering pressure hose (3A719).
18. Remove power steering pump (3A674) and power steering pump bracket (10A313) and move aside.
19. Disconnect power steering pressure switch (PSP switch)(3N824) at wiring connector.
20. Disconnect A/C clutch (2884) from fuel charging wiring (9D930).
21. Recover A/C system. Refer to Heating and Air Conditioning.
22. Disconnect A/C compressor lines. Cap or plug open lines.
23. Remove A/C compressor retaining bolts and remove A/C compressor (19703).
24. Remove wiring shield.
25. Disconnect accelerator cable (9A758) and speed control actuator cable (9A825) from throttle body (9E926).





26. Remove accelerator cable bracket (9723) and move aside with cables.
27. Release fuel system pressure.
28. Disconnect fuel supply hose and fuel return hose.
29. Disconnect fuel charging wiring from engine control sensor wiring (12A581) at 42-pin connector.
30. Disconnect main vacuum source hose.
31. Disconnect evaporative emission hose.
32. Remove A/C compressor mounting bracket (2882) with drive belt tensioner attached.
33. Raise and support vehicle.
34. Position drain pan beneath engine oil pan (6675).
35. Drain engine oil.
36. Remove oil bypass filter (6714)
37. Move drain pan away from vehicle.
38. Disconnect heated oxygen sensors (HO2S)(9F472).
39. Remove dual converter Y pipe (5F250).
40. Remove inspection plug from rear engine plate (7007) and remove torque converter bolts.
41. Remove engine-to-transmission bolts.
42. Remove transmission oil cooler line retainers from RH front engine support insulator (6038).
43. Remove through bolts retaining front engine support insulator to front sub-frame (5C145).
44. Remove starter motor (11002).
45. Remove ground cable and remove starter motor wire harness retainers (LH and RH sides).
46. Partially lower vehicle.
47. Position Rotunda 1-1/2 Ton Floor Jack 164-R3511 or equivalent under transmission.
48. Install Rotunda Engine Lifting Bracket Set 014-00792 and Rotunda Separator Bar 014-00793 or equivalents.
49. Position Rotunda Floor Crane 014-00071 or equivalent
50. Remove engine assembly from vehicle.
51. Place engine on Rotunda Engine Stand 014-00232 or equivalent.
