Cylinder Diameter Check/Piston Fitting
NOTE: Pistons are sized prior to coating. Actual size cannot be measured on a coated piston.
1. Measure the piston outer diameter at a right angle (90°) to the piston pin and 42 mm (1.65 inch) below dome of piston.
Coded Red: 96.795-96.782 mm (3.81082-3.81031 inch).
Coded Blue: 96.808-96.795 mm (3.81133-3.81082 inch).
Coded Yellow: 96.821-96.808 mm (3.81184-3.81133 inch).
2. Measure the cylinder block piston bores 13 mm (1/2 inch) below the top of the deck.
3. Measure the cylinder block piston bores 13 mm (1/2 inch) above top of piston with piston at its lowest pint of travel in the cylinder block bore.
4. The difference between the two is the piston to cylinder bore clearance.
Piston-to-Bore Clearance Limit: 0.018-0.044 mm (0.00071-0.00173 inch).
5. Select a piston to keep clearance within range.
Use Red piston if bore is 96.795-96.782 mm (3.81082-3.81031 inch).
Use Blue piston if bore is 96.808-96.795 mm (3.81133-3.81082 inch).
Use Yellow piston if bore is 96.821-96.808 mm (3.81184-3.81133 inch).
