Stator to Impeller Interference Check

1. Position the torque converter stator support on a bench with the spline end of the shaft pointing up.
2. Mount a torque converter on the torque converter stator support with the splines on the stator support shaft, engaging the mating splines of the torque converter stator support.
3. Hold the torque converter stator support stationary, and try to rotate the torque converter counterclockwise. The torque converter should rotate freely without any signs of interference or scraping within the converter assembly.
4. If there is an indication of scraping, the trailing edges of the stator blades may be interfering with the leading edges of the impeller blades. In such cases, replace the torque converter.
