Leaks

CAUTION: Do not try to stop a leak by increasing bolt or fitting torque beyond specification. This may damage the Transaxle case threads.

1. Park the vehicle on a level surface.
2. Check the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) for automatic transmission fluid (ATF) leakage at the automatic transaxle.
3. Check for ATF leakage at the oil pan to case gasket and the oil pan drain plug.

NOTE: ATF leakage at the oil pan to case gasket or the oil pan drain plug can be stopped by tightening the bolts to specification.

4. Check the oil filler tube connection at the case.
5. Check the fluid lines and fittings between the radiator and the automatic transaxle for looseness, wear or damage.
6. If necessary, use an oil soluble aniline or fluorescent dye to help determine or locate the source of the ATF leakage.
7. If any ATF leaks are found, repair as necessary.
