G: Lockup Solenoid

Pinpoint Test G: Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT) Sensor

G1 Attempt To Recreate DTC P0710

Note
:
- Incorrect fluid level or low fluid temperature during self-test can generate a false DTC.
- Check fluid level and operate the vehicle to ensure proper transmission operating temperature before running self-test.

Rerun the Diagnostic Quick Test.
Is DTC P0710 still present?
Yes
Go to G2
No
Transmission fluid was not at operating temperature during initial self-test.
RESTORE vehicle.
RERUN Diagnostic Quick Test.

G2 Check TFT Operation
- Key OFF.
- Disconnect transaxle C1012.
- Connect an ohmmeter between transaxle C1012-5 circuit 805 (BL/Y) and transaxle C1012-10 circuit 805 (BL/Y).
- Allow transmission fluid to cool.
- Record resistance reading as transmission fluid cools.
Does the resistance of the TFT sensor increase as the fluid cools?
Yes
Go to G3.
No
REPLACE the TFT sensor.
RESTORE vehicle.
RERUN Diagnostic Quick Test.

G3 Check TFT And SIG RTN Wires For Opens
- Key OFF.
- Disconnect the powertrain control module (PCM).
- Connect Rotunda 104-Pin Breakout Box 014-00950 or equivalent and Breakout Box Adapter T96P-12A650- C, leave PCM disconnected.
- Transaxle harness connector disconnected.
- Measure the resistance between the TFT circuit at transaxle C1012-5 circuit 805 (BL/Y) and Breakout Box Test Pin 46.
- Measure the resistance between the SIG RTN circuit at transaxle C1012-10 circuit 65 (BK/R) and Breakout Box Test Pin 69.
Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
Yes
Go to G4.
No
REPAIR the circuit in question.
RESTORE vehicle.
RERUN Diagnostic Quick Test.

G4 Check TFT(+) Circuit For Short
- Key OFF.
- Transaxle harness connector disconnected.
- Measure the resistance between Test Pin 46 and ground.
Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes
REPLACE PCM.
RESTORE vehicle.
RERUN Diagnostic Quick Test.
No
REPAIR the TFT circuit.
RESTORE vehicle.
