Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

1. Visually inspect the automatic transaxle from above and below the vehicle:

Mechanical
- Improper fluid level
- Fluid leaks
- Loose engine or Transaxle support insulators
- Front wheel driveshaft and joint loose, worn or damaged
- Transmission shift cable worn or damaged
- Excessive wear or damage to front brakes
- Incorrect tire pressure
- Damaged or adjusted transmission range (TR) switch
Electrical
- Blown fuse: 15A ROOM
- Blown fuse: 15A METER
- Stretched, open or damaged wiring harness
- Corroded or loose connectors
2. Shift the gearshift lever manually through all ranges to check for ease of movement, obvious binding, or incorrect adjustment.
3. Check the wiring harness for signs of shorts, opens, bad connections, or damage.
4. Drive the vehicle to verify the customer complaint (if possible).
5. Request the customer to road test the vehicle with the technician for intermittent concerns with the automatic transaxle.
6. If no fault is visually evident, proceed to the ATF Level and Condition check.
Fluid - A/T
- If fluid level and condition is OK, proceed to the ATF Leaks inspection.
Testing and Inspection
- If no leaks are found, proceed to the Gear Shift Lever inspection.

- If the gearshift operation is OK, proceed to Operational Tests.
