Headlamp System

The headlamp system consists of:
- Two sealed beam halogen headlamp bulbs.
- Two fog lamps (GT only and standard on Canadian vehicles).
- A three-position headlamp switch located in the turn signal lever.
- A high beam selector switch located in the turn signal lever.
- An optional fog lamp switch located in the instrument panel finish panel.

The high beams are activated by gently pushing the turn signal lever away from the driver until the switch latches. Pulling the lever towards the driver will return the headlamps to low beam operation.

The high beams also include the flash-to-pass feature, which is activated by pulling the turn signal lever towards the driver. The high beams will be activated until the lever is released.

The headlamp assembly consists of:
- Headlamp cover hinge.
- Headlamp adjusting ring.
- Sealed beam halogen type headlamp bulb.
- Headlamp bulb retaining ring.
- Headlamp bezel.
- Headlamp cover.
- Headlamp cover control motor.

The headlamp bulb is installed through the front of the headlamp adjusting ring and is held in position by a headlamp bulb retaining ring. The headlamp assembly is mounted to the chassis by the headlamp cover hinge.

The headlamp cover control motor is located under the headlamp cover hinge. The headlamp cover control motor pushes up and pulls down the headlamp cover shaft which attaches the headlamp housing to the headlamp cover control motor. Consequently, the headlamp is pulled to the retracted position without changing headlamp aim.

NOTE: The manual control knob should only be used after the headlamp cover control motor fuse, located in the main fuse junction panel, has been removed or the battery ground cable has been disconnected.

A manual control knob is located on top of the headlamp cover control motor and can be reached from the engine compartment.
