Installation
1. Attach lifting cables to the engine lifting eyes on the engine and remove any slack in the cables.2. Remove the engine from the engine stand.
3. Install the flywheel.
4. Connect the engine and transaxle. Tighten the engine-to-transaxle bolts and the transaxle-to-engine bolts to 68-99 Nm (50-73 ft. lbs.).
5. Carefully place the engine and transaxle into the engine compartment.
6. Install the RH engine support insulator. Tighten the RH engine support insulator through bolt to 67-93 Nm (50-68 ft. lbs.) and the three RH engine support insulator nuts to 74-103 Nm (54-76 ft. lbs.).
7. Install the LH transaxle support insulator through bolt into the LH transaxle support insulator. Tighten the LH transaxle support insulator through bolt to 86-116 Nm (63-86 ft. lbs.).
8. Remove the lifting cables from the engine lifting eyes.
9. Raise and support the vehicle.
10. Install the front transaxle support insulator through bolt. Tighten the front transaxle support insulator through bolts to 86-116 Nm (63-86 ft. lbs.).
11. Install the rear transaxle support insulator through bolt. Tighten the rear transaxle support insulator through bolt to 86-116 Nm (63-86 ft. lbs.).
12. Lower the vehicle.
13. Align the FC relay bracket bolts to 8-10 Nm (71-88 inch lbs.).
14. Place the transmission shift cable over the TR switch and install the spring clip.
15. Align the fuel filter and install the two fuel filter bracket nuts. Tighten the fuel filter bracket nuts to 8-10 Nm (71-88 inch lbs.).
16. Connect the climate control assembly vacuum hose to the intake manifold.
17. Connect the brake vacuum booster hose to the power brake booster.
18. Connect the accelerator cable to the throttle body.
19. Connect the vacuum hoses to the throttle body.
20. Connect the return fuel tube and vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator.
21. Align the fuel tube bracket and install the two fuel tube bracket bolts. Tighten the fuel tube bracket bolts to 8-10 Nm (71-88 inch lbs.).
22. Install the fuel supply tube using new copper crush washers. Tighten the fuel supply tube bolt to 25-34 Nm (18-25 ft. lbs.).
23. If equipped, align the speed control servo and install the two speed control servo bracket nuts.
24. Connect the speed control servo electrical connector.
25. Install the wiring harness grounds.
26. Install the two heater water hoses to the rear water hose connection.
27. Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.
28. Connect the ECT and the water temperature indicator sender unit electrical connector to the front water hose connection.
29. Connect the TR switch electrical connector.
30. Connect the EGR valve position sensor electrical connector.
31. Connect the IAC BPA valve electrical connector.
32. Connect the EGR valve and EGR solenoid vacuum valve electrical connectors and vacuum hoses.
33. Connect the KS electrical connector.
34. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector.
35. Connect the wiring to the starter solenoid.
36. Connect the VSS electrical connector.
37. If equipped, connect the vacuum hose to the speed control servo.
38. Connect both of the fuel injection supply manifold electrical connectors.
39. Align the A/C and generator wiring harness and install the two bolts.
40. Connect the two electrical connectors to the top of the distributor.
41. Install the radiator and the fan shroud by lowering straight down into the vehicle.
CAUTION: Do not bend the radiator or condenser cooling fins. Use extreme care when installing the radiator and the fan shroud.
42. Install the two radiator hold-down bolts. Tighten the radiator hold-down bolts to 8-10 Nm (71-88 inch lbs.).
43. Remove the transmission oil cooler inlet tube plugs and install the transmission fluid cooler tubes into the radiator.
44. Connect each engine cooling fan motor electrical connector.
45. Connect the radiator coolant recovery reservoir overflow hose to the radiator coolant recovery reservoir.
46. Connect the lower radiator hose to the rear water hose connection. Slide the lower radiator hose clamp into place.
47. Install the upper radiator hose to the water hose connection. Slide the upper radiator hose clamp into place.
48. Raise and support the vehicle.
49. If equipped, align the A/C compressor and install the four bolts. Tighten the A/C compressor bolts to 38-51 Nm (28-38 ft. lbs.).
50. Align the power steering pump and install the power steering pump rear bracket bolt. Tighten the power steering pump rear bracket bolt to 32-46 Nm (24-33 ft. lbs.).
51. Install the power steering hose bracket bolt. Tighten the power steering hose bracket bolt to 31-46 Nm (23-34 ft. lbs.).
52. Install the three power steering pump bolts through the power steering pump pulley. Tighten the power steering pump bolts to 31-46 Nm (23-34 ft. lbs.).
53. Install the power steering and water pump drive belt.
54. Install the front wheel driveshaft and joints.
55. Connect the oil pressure switch electrical connector, located at the oil filter.
56. Align the exhaust inlet pipes to the exhaust manifolds.
57. Install the exhaust inlet pipe nuts. Tighten the exhaust inlet pipe nuts to 40-55 Nm (30-41 ft. lbs.).
58. Connect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connectors.
59. Align the crossmember and install the six crossmember bolts. Tighten the crossmember bolts to 94-126 Nm (69-93 ft. lbs.).
60. Install the lower front fender splash shields. Tighten the front fender splash shield bolts to 8-10 Nm (71-88 inch lbs.).
61. Install the wheel and tire assemblies. Tighten the lug nuts to 88-118 Nm (65-87 ft. lbs.).
62. Lower the vehicle.
63. Install the A/C and generator drive belt.
64. Make a complete inspection of the engine compartment for any vacuum hoses or electrical connectors remaining disconnected. If necessary, connect the vacuum hose or electrical connector.
65. Install the engine air cleaner and engine air cleaner intake tube.
66. Install the battery tray and the battery. Connect the battery.
67. Refill the cooling system with the specified type and mixture of antifreeze.
68. If necessary, refill the engine with the specified type and quantity engine oil.
69. Start the engine and check for leaks and proper operation.
70. Stop the engine and recheck the fluid levels. Fill to specifications as needed.
