Output Shaft: Testing and Inspection

ASSEMBLY
^ Check the output shaft gear assembly for:
^ The clearance between the speedometer gear, and synchronizer blocking ring is 0.030-0.080 mm (0.0012-0.0031 inch).
^ The clearance between the second gear (2GR) and third gear is 0.030-0.080 mm (0.0012-0.0031 inch).

SHAFT ONLY
Check the output shaft for:
^ Worn or damaged gear contact surfaces, splines or gear teeth.
^ Clogged oil passage.





^ Output shaft gear runout. Mount the output shaft in a lathe or V-blocks and measure the runout at the joint shown in the illustration.
Maximum allowable runout is 0.015 mm (0.0006 inch).





^ Shaft diameter.
1st: 39.445-39.470 mm (1.5529-1.5539 inch)
2nd: 34.945-34.970 mm (1.3758-1.3768 inch)





^ Inner gear diameter.
1st: 39.500-39.525 mm (1.5551-1.5561 inch)
2nd: 35.000-35.025 mm (1.3780-1.3789 inch)
