Output Shaft: Adjustments

BEARING PRELOAD

NOTE: Whenever the transaxle is disassembled, the bearing preload must be adjusted. The output shaft preload can be adjusted by selecting shims to insert between the fourth gear end bearing cups and the transaxle case. To determine the correct thickness shim, use Shim Selection Sets T88C-77000-JF and T88C-77000-C, along with the following procedure:

1. Install the output and fifth shaft funnel and output shaft first gear end bearing cup into the flywheel housing.
2. Inspect the bearing cups after installation to make sure they are fully seated.
3. Repeat the procedure listed for the input shaft bearing preload to set output shaft preload and select a slightly thicker shim than the final shim size determined in Step 13.
4. Select the appropriate shim(s) from Shim Kit E92Z-7L172-A or equivalent.
